Simon Griffiths

Having gained extensive experience working in regional, national and international communications roles, Simon has established his own communications business and brings those expertise to the board.

He works with clients on editorial strategy and content generation. His approach is to help business think like publishers to produce content that engages their audience, rather than to simply push sales messages. He is a firm believer that to audiences: "The 'why' and the 'how' are typically far more interesting than the 'what'." 

Before joining the board, he served as marketing and communications coordinator for Volleyball England on an interim basis. He used his creative flair to help the organisation because volleyball is one of his biggest passions. 

After getting the volleyball bug at university, he has been involved with the sport ever since. In 2012, he became the chairman of his club and oversaw the club’s rebranding as Tamworth Spartans. He still coaches the ladies in the regional league as well as in the NVL (since 2015) while turning out himself for either of the two men’s regional sides. He also coaches the West Midlands U-17 boys’ team that takes part in the Inter-Regional Championships.

Simon likes to think of himself as an ideas person and believes that organisations should never be afraid of adopting creative approaches, even in the most serious and austere business environments. He is also pragmatic though. He says this is something which comes in handy in a minority sport where we rarely get exactly what we want and being able to see the bigger picture and remembering that even a small win is still a win, has served him well so far.
