Volleyball Futures launches to clubs and primary age mentors

Volleyball Futures – which shares knowledge on how best to improve young volleyball players – is opening to all clubs and coaches.

The programme will also see the launch of Primary Volleyball – the new approach to introducing volleyball to children under 11.

The maiden event will see a workshop showing anyone who is coaching volleyball to primary school aged children – whether they are teachers, parents or coaches – the best way to introduce volleyball and inspire children to play.

Volleyball Futures – developing talent

After last year saw the programme launched to the Regional Associations, the next stage of implementation will see a Volleyball Futures camp for young players and coaches from any clubs across the country at the National Volleyball Centre Kettering next month.

Taking place on Saturday 26th October, the camp will share the latest thinking about talent development including developing players physical capabilities, lifestyle approach and the Volleyball Fundamentals - the model of the four-critical stages of game play in volleyball.

Young athletes (born in 2006 or later) will learn about how to employ this approach in their training, as well as looking at taking a holistic outlook on maximising their talent. While in a separate clinic at the camp, coaches of young players will gain an understanding of this approach and develop the skills they need to be comfortable sharing and instilling this approach in young players.

The Volleyball Futures camp for athletes is priced at £40 per person and attendees will also receive:

  • Meals during the day
  • A Volleyball Futures t-shirt
  • A camp photograph

The Coach Clinic is £20 per person and each person will receive their meals, refreshments and a Volleyball Futures resource pack – helping you to implement your new knowledge with your players.

You can now book your place on the Volleyball Futures Athlete Camp and the Coaches Clinic.

Primary Volleyball launch

The weekend will also see a new, exciting part of the programme – Primary Volleyball – which looks at the best way to introduce the sport of volleyball to young players (under 11 years old).

On Sunday 27th October at the National Volleyball Centre, Kettering, the primary school volleyball programme will be presented with practical ideas and activities for introducing volleyball to beginners. Aimed at any adult who will be working with children under 11, the event will focus on the new 2v2 format and share original resources including session plans on how to give beginners a taste of the best game in the world!

The session will also provide advice and guidance on how to stage 2v2 festivals and will be a first look at the resources that have been created by the Children and Young People Working Group.

The Primary Volleyball clinic is just £20 and you can book places online now.
