With 26 years commercial, sales and marketing experience Ian could not resist Volleyball England’s call for assistance in these areas in March 2017. The last 15 years were spent as a Director of a ductwork cleaning company which became a market leader in the UK. This experience will be invaluable for his work on the board at Volleyball England.
Ian considers himself to be a true grassroots volleyball person. A founder member of Tamworth Volleyball Club in 1982, now Tamworth Spartans, he has served on the club committee in various roles, 15 years as Chair and was instrumental in achieving Volley 2 accreditation for the club in 2012. He still plays, referees and also is a Level 2 coach.
The combination of these two extensive periods of business and volleyball experience will be of great assistance in helping Volleyball England find alternative income streams which has become increasingly important given Sport England’s reduced financial support for National Governing Bodies.
Ian stated: “It was a great honour to be invited to join the board and to have this decision endorsed at the last AGM. My hope is to help move Volleyball England forward to better times, growing the volleyball family in all its disciplines and inspiring young people to enjoy this great sport which has given me many enjoyable years.”
